filmmakerAfter professionally starting out as a humanitarian in the not-for-profit sector (following her Bachelor of International Studies at RMIT University), Sofia took a colourful 180-leap into the film industry almost 5 years ago. Ever since, she has been establishing herself as a dynamic and multi-faceted filmmaker willing to throw herself into any limb of the storytelling process.
Her experience behind the camera extends across documentary, feature films, web-series, commercials, and short films. Starting out in production, Sofia also works in the roles of 2nd and 3rd AD, art department, and continuity. She brings a vibrant and focused energy to her work, with a deep passion for dynamic collaboration and creative integrity.

'THE ELEPHANT ROOM'
Docuseries
Sofia is the creator, director and co-producer of ‘The Elephant Room’ a 6-part docuseries that explores heavily stigmatised experiences through intimate, poetic storytelling from complete strangers, told in the private sanctuary of their living room.
The series is about reclaiming taboo, liberating shame, and giving people the opportunity to take back ownership of their lived experience.The Elephant Room was chosen as recipient of the Leading Lights Program, one of only five documentaries at the Australian International Documentary selected for emerging documentary filmmakers.
After a hugely successful campaign through The Australian Cultural Fund, three episodes have now been filmed, with three more in development, forecast for full release in 2024.
